Arketa (Pllumi) Guli

Hemangioma is a benign tumor with etiology from vascular cells. The most common form is infantile hemangioma, known as "strawberries", usually evidenced on the skin, at birth or in the first weeks of life. It is more common in females than in males. A hemangioma can occur anywhere in the body, but usually appears on the face, head, chest or spine. The aim of this study is to evidence the results of drug treatment of infantile hemangioma. This is a transversal study. The period of study is January-December 2019. All data collected were analyzed using SPSS Version19 and Microsoft Office Excel 2010. In this study are included 10 cases of children diagnosed with hemangioma and treated with drugs. The first diagnoses were made from two months to 14 years old. In these cases were presented six female and four male children from Shkodra District with hemangioma in different parts of skin. Patients underwent standard examinations as well as cardiac ECG, ECHO to make a differential diagnosis to rule out other concomitant malformations. They then underwent drug treatment. The treatment consisted of taking oral Propranolol 2mg / kg / weight, divided into three meals as well as Sol. Timolol 0.5% once daily locally. After one week, they underwent only cardiac ECHO reexamination to see for the side effects of propranolol and to identify local hemangioma change. After one month the situation presents with a 70% reduction in hemangioma size almost more than 50% of cases. After 2 months follow-up we have 75% full remission of birthmark. Conclusions: As sooner treatment with the drug was started, as faster the reduction of hemangioma was.
